i have to book in tmr by 20:30
but i keep thinking that i'm on block leave and so dun have to book in
haha.
i'm becoming dillusional
the new cadets are coming in on monday
YAY!
which means that after they come in,
my service term will end in approximately 48 hours
and i'll get my 3 bars
will be in charge of some of the new cadets on mon
so if anyone going to ocs,
if you are told you're going to Charlie Wing Platoon 1
dun worry, cos you'll be under my care and concern
i've realised that having a psp can be quite useful
and therefore may comtemplate purchasing one
ok, peace out

hopefully you'll like it
never been to such a formal event before
but i guess it'll be fun

and i feel my mental endurance being tested
we rush to wait
and we wait to rush
everyday you become more tired
and you just have to endure till the day you book out
i rather spend time out of my house when i book out
which i think is wrong
cos i feel like i'm neglecting my parents who have really been my pillars through army so far
always looking out for my safety and health
while telling me that i shouldn't over exert myself and all
yes my friends, i have not forgotten you all.
yiling, con, weiling, bernard, tessa
you guys may not know this but i pinned some pics of us on my noticeboard
so whenever i'm in my bunk i just look at the pics so i'll make myself happy
i plan to pin the whole notice board with pictures
so when we meet,
TAKE MORE NICE PICS K!
tough times lie ahead
a ten day field camp
which will be shiong la
that will be like a 2 weeks confinement
i'll only get to book out on the 22nd i think
then 2 weeks later we'll have "scorpion king"
which will be a 4 days? field camp
BUT look on the bright side
after that, would mean that i'll be about 3 weeks away from completiing my service term
that shall be my motivation

ocs has been ok.
training hasn't really started so i can't really judge if its tough anot.
so far its been alot of lectures and lessons.
but one thing is that it is very rush.
as in time given to you to do things is unbelievable.
sometimes i need to think twice about going to the toilet cos i wont be able to be ready in time.
but anyway, so far so good.
so shall see how it goes.

and even with all the supposed improvements for windows mobile 6.1
i still dun see any difference
and now after some research
i may have found the solution
introducing the HTC Dream

apparently thats how the phone looks like
most importantly
this should be the first phone taht will run on Google's Android OS
the OS kinda looks like that of the iPhone
for about 3 hrs
cos the music died down at like 4
but still it was fun
chat with weiling while they made us wait for 2 hrs!!
always nice when we talk
got into ocs
kinda unexpected myself
i'll just take it day by day and survive i guess
tough times don't last,
but tough men do
i shall always rem this
got another shopping list
i'm gonna get this black trilby from top
and this belt from signature
so yiling, pls make yourself free in 3 weeks time k
PLEASE...

before that selfless and selfcentred
shun myself from you for pride and fear of riducule
locked myself in this home you provided for me without giving thanks
still you continued to love me, like only a mother can
17 onwards, a new beginning
promised myself that i'd come up in life and be somebody
just like you always wanted me to be
you never once asked me to be a doctor, lawyer, businessman or politician
respected all my decisions, though with a shed of concern
i did all this to make you proud
to see that smile on your face when i tell you my results
to hear that you are proud of me and to continue doing well
on the 28th of may i want to see that smile again when i receive my diploma
so if you wont be able to be there, i see no point of me being there either

done with the main part, reading the bonus material part
if you're like me, not into the storybook type
dig smth that keeps your mind thinking (not talking about sodoku books here)
and gives you a different perspective of situations going on in the world
then this is the book man
go to the book shop and look for book
flip thru it and check it out
and if you realise that you dun really like it
then guess what
you're not really like me after all
been thinking of my future lately
(i'm sure that ppl are going "oh man, not again")
more like thinking of ways to be successful in the future
so here is my latest idea
(warning: it gets a little boring after this, so venture at your own risk)
imagine doing business with virtually no physical contact with your clients
lets say i set up a programming company
my main mean of sales would be my own website, which offers packages for companies to choose from
examples would be:
- Package A = Website
- Package B = Website + Server
- Package C = Website + Server + Firewall
- Package D = Website + Server + Firewall + UPS
- Package E = Website + Server + Firewall + UPS + Lease Lines
obviously the prices would go up according to how many peripherals there are in a package
lets say a company has choosen a package, we will then have to get into contact with them to discuss how things are to be done according to how they like it right
first of all think of how over telecommunication industry has evoled in the last 5 years
we didnt have video calls, video streaming, VOIP (not really under telco but whatever)
now think of how its going to evolve in the next 5 years
imagine contacting your clients through VOIP, conference calling, video conferencing (http://www.ojophone.com/products/ojophone) and of cos the ever trustable (most of the time) Email
we can use Email, VOIP and conference calling for basic communications, and video conferencing for presentations and such
physical meetings can be replaced and thus time may be saved for better results in the project (think travel time, as vendors usually go down to the clients' office for meetings)
clients may preview the websites thru online portals that allow you to run sets of codes and preview them
of cos there are many many details to be sort out, and taking away the physical interaction between the vendor and the client does post some serious setbacks
but wouldn't it be great taking advantage of the technology that is right in front of us
think about it, business 5 years from now..

firstly...
i got into SMU!!
so happy when i saw the letter
parents and friends congratulated me
then i was just hoping my enlistment would be ard june/july
wed night i took out my lenses
and my left eye was itching like crazy
decided to just sleep it off
woke up on thurs and my whole eye was swollen and red
told my parents i wasn't going to work and needed to go to the doc
went to the doc and he told me that it was a very serious eye infection
he also said that i had ulcers in my eye (i didn't know i could have ulcers there)
he said it was very serious and i could go BLIND!!
gave me some med and told me to see him the next day
this morning went to see him again
felt better
not fully recovered though
he said my eye did get better
and told me to continue my medication and see him on sunday
then my dad told me to go check the mailbox
cos he hadn't checked it for 2 or 3 days
i went down and low and behold
it arrived
MY ENLISTMENT LETTER
Date: July 10th 2008

not bad
walked around
saw stuff
i think samsung phones are looking more cool and stylish
from certain views it really looks like a shopping centre
there are lots of eateries there
saw nice swatch watches
are swatch watches called swatches or just swatch watches?
we had toast box before we went there
but i didnt really feel like eating it although i was a tad hungry
but around 2 i felt hungry again
so we decided on popeyes
i ate and she didnt
now i prefer kfc to popeyes
but today the chicken was more juicy?
the fries are always delicious and the biscuit was nicer than the ones we tried before
however i got full real fast and only ate 1 and a half chickens
it'll be great to go on a holiday with you
anywhere would do
as long as i have you

not bad
lunched with allan, guo hao, zhen hao and ling
the econimical rice guy has an attitude prob
ok nvm
bused home and then got ready for the interview
by the time i got ready was like 2.10
as i was going to be late
i cabbed down
reached there and sat ard for awhile
then at 3 we were led to the preparation room
there were student volunteers (i'm assuming they were this)
who checked our results, and then gave us some stuff to fill up
these stuff would be used during the interview
we each got a reading to read thru
then had to fill up 4 questions in bullet points
1. what makes you curious?
2. examples of your hardwork?
3. examples of your leadership?
4. passion for IT?
then we had to look at a poster
the poster was an example of a problem solving technique
where you used assumptions to estimate the numerical answer to the question
further elaboration below
after these, we got to watch a short video about some of the SMU students
stuff like their experiences here and all
this whole preparation thing lasted for like an hour
so at 4pm we headed for the interview
so the interview is a group interview
my group had 4 other ppl
so after a brief wait outside the room
we were led into the room
we each had those name labels in front of us on the table
so the professors (the students like to call them profs) had some small talk with us
then started the interview
the first part was to briefly explain the passage we read in 1 - 2 mins
so the prof asked who wanted to start first (we sat in a sort of J shape)
so i looked to the left and saw everyone else just look in every direction except the profs
seizing the opportunity i volunteered and probably explained my passage in abit more than a min
then the rest did theirs
the second guy was damn funny
firstly he kept repeating the words "actually" and "basically"
then he talked like for 4-5 mins
the prof was about to stop him when he finally stopped
the second part was the question we had to solve using the assumption method we read in the preparation room
so basically we had a piece of paper to do our working
and it was like this
we had 3 min to solve this question
" how many people travel on the North East (NEL) Line on a working day?"
i'm proud to say i got my answer within this time
this is what i did
Assumptions
4,000,000 ppl in s'pore
3,200,000 ppl travel on a working day
1,000,000 ppl take the train on a working day
30% of the passangers use the NEL
therefore my estimate would be 300,000
we had to explain my answers and i felt that the profs kinda made sense of my solution la
third part was were the profs questions us about the answer we wrote to the 4 questions la
that part was ok
my question was "what makes me curious" and "example of my leadership"
it was during the "what makes me curious" question that i got shot at by the prof
other than that it was ok
the last part, we had to answer these questions
"why SMU?" and "why SIS (School of Information Systems)?"
this part went well la
so that was it then we had a discussion with the 2 profs
where we could ask them anything we wanted
and that concluded the interview
i felt good and confident during and after the interview
ling asked me if i was confident and i said 70% (cant be over confident)
lav says i surely go in
i hope so
if i don't
you die ah
i'll eat all the ice cream in the world and become fat and force you to carry me everywhere we go
can ah?
:p
